Bottom-rankedCapitalinas (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 64-43 loss to fifth ranked Santa Ana (2-3) in on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Capitalinas ' 28. Santa Ana forced 32 Capitalinas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) stepped up and scored 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and guard Vanessa Hernandez (157-1997) chipped in 19 points, 6 assists and 7 steals. Guard Valeria Ayala (164-2008) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Alejandra Martinez (169-2005) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Ana moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ahuachapan. Loser Capitalinas still closes the standings with six games lost.
